ABSTRACT BOOKLET
CALL FOR PAPERS
“I am not one and simple, but complex and many.”
― Virginia Woolf, The Waves
Virginia Woolf's insightful remarks capture the essence of identity, echoing the intricate tapestry that defines our human experience. In the profound exploration of the self, identity emerges as a multifaceted concept intricately woven into the fabric of our existence. Every person has a distinct and multifaceted identity, a dynamic kaleidoscope that constantly changes while they make their way through the maze of life. Simultaneously, there exists an external facade, a performative persona crafted for social scrutiny. This duality of identity forms the dynamic interplay between the private and public self, shaping our interactions, perceptions, and the narratives we weave.
Henceforth, The Departments of English Language and Literature and American Culture and Literature proudly and warmly present 12th International Undergraduate Symposium (IUS) entitled “Identity” to create an environment to explore the various presentations of identity in literature, culture, arts, and life. The main goal of IUS is not only to bring together the undergraduate students to provide them a platform where they can submit their works but also to offer an early academic participation via this unique experience. The 12th International Undergraduate Symposium will mainly focus on the different approaches towards the concept of identity in literature, language, history, popular culture, and fine arts. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
· Social and Political Identity
